Story
Set against the backdrop of the Sri Lankan economic crisis, Tourist Family follows Dharmadas “Das”, his wife Vasanthi, and their sons Nithushan and Murali, who flee their hometown of Jaffna in search of a better future.
With the help of Vasanthi’s brother, the family crosses into India through Rameswaram, hoping to start a new life. However, as undocumented immigrants, they must hide their identities and live under constant fear of being discovered by law enforcement.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding their future, the family’s warmth, kindness, and optimism gradually transform the lives of the people around them. What begins as a desperate search for safety evolves into a touching story about friendship, acceptance, and the power of community.
