Story
The story begins in Tiruvannamalai, where Kaali and his family prepare to follow a tradition that has existed for more than 200 years. According to this custom, when a woman in the family becomes pregnant, she must visit the temple of their ancestral deity, Nirai Sooli, to pray for a safe childbirth.
Kaali’s wife Anusuya, who is nine months pregnant, is taken to this temple located deep inside a forest. What is meant to be a sacred ritual soon turns into a frightening experience.
As strange incidents begin to happen, the couple slowly realizes that the temple and the surrounding forest hide secrets that have been buried for generations. The visit that was meant to bring blessings soon becomes a fight for survival.
Along with the mystery and suspense, the film also touches on social issues such as caste-based thinking and long-standing traditions that continue to shape people’s beliefs.
