The Dhandoraa movie explores caste discrimination, rigid social traditions, family relationships, and changing attitudes in rural Telangana. Blending dark humor with emotional drama, the film presents a story about human dignity, resistance, and hope.

Story

The Dhandoraa story revolves around Shivaji (Sivaji), an upper-caste man who strongly believes in caste traditions and takes great pride in his social status. He has two children, Vishnu (Nandu) and Sujatha (Manika).

Sujatha falls in love with Ravi (Ravi Krishna), a young man from a lower caste in the same village. Shivaji strongly opposes their relationship because of his rigid caste beliefs. His opposition eventually leads to the village’s caste elders imposing a severe punishment on Ravi.

Disturbed by his father’s actions and extreme mindset, Vishnu distances himself from him. As Shivaji begins to face the consequences of his decisions, he develops a close bond with Sreelatha (Bindu Madhavi), a sex worker. Their relationship gradually brings a change in Shivaji and makes him question the beliefs he once considered unquestionable.

After Shivaji’s death, a new crisis emerges when his own community refuses to allow him to be buried in their burial ground. The incident shakes the entire village and forces its people to confront their deeply rooted caste divisions.

The events surrounding Shivaji’s death bring Vishnu, village leaders, and the wider community face-to-face with difficult questions about caste, tradition, dignity, and humanity. The story follows whether this incident can bring meaningful change to the village and challenge its long-standing social divisions.
